How much pay for a music video?

An artist asked me if I wanted to make her first music video. I said yes and she asked me how much I'd like to be paid. I told her I'm not professional and I have never done a paid job before. Therefore I want to come to an agreement after I have made it.
Honestly, I don't know how much a professional would take for the job. That's why I'm asking you.

I'm done with the video. I did around 8 hours shooting, driving round trip not included. And 6-8 hours editing forth and back. In total, probably 15-20 hours. Perhaps more. After the first edit the artist came with her opinion, I changed some, got some more feedback, changed again and did that a couple of times.

We haven't gotten to money yet, but she is really happy with the result.

So, what is normal? How much would you take for the job? I'm new, unexperienced and can't take as much as a professional. But I do have some equipment, included a 5D mark III.

Usually, your first few jobs, you do for free, just to help you get experience, build a demo reel, and get your name spread around.

Music videos vary wildly in pricing. Depends on how much the band makes, how famous or not they are, etc.

You figure 3-4 days of work, what would you get paid for that?
Will she make money off of this video (will it make folks buy her music, if she has it for sale)?
How much does she expect to make off of it?
Are you willing to just settle for having the experience, demo reel material, and her talk you up big time with others, be payment enough?

No real cut and dry answer to this. I'm very interested to see what others have to say. Very interesting question.

Well done on completing you first music video!!! Not sure about the pay, but by the sounds of things you have already gained a lot from the whole experience.

The experience is debatable. How much experience to I actually have? And should she pay me for the job? I have asked my self these questions, and that's why I told here the money could wait until after the video was done.

She recently had a concert in Iceland, and summer 2015 she's going to Germany, showing them the video. Her music is on iTunes and I might say she is semi professional. She doesn't perform for free, but has another job besides singing.
The video might get people to buy her music. It is promotional, so I'm guessing she will be using this to get people to buy her music.

This was rather easy. The new experience was working with someone I didn't know in advance. I've edited a lot before, been using my camera lot and I have cooperated with friends. But everything is a new experience.

She's got her own company, small one. So she wants to be a professional singer. And take it I don't know her, I think it's ok she gives me some reward for this. As you say, I spent a few days of my free time. But hey, I might be demanding. That's why I ask you guys :)
