Remembering that they are a hardware company first, so they really do have their finger on the pulse of what cool technologies are going to be there for it in the future.

That is promising, and something I hadn't really considered, Avid in their hayday were the same.

I also have the same opinion on the trimming in Avid. It's what has always made it so attractive. That and media management are my 2 priorities in an NLE, FCPX has already surpassed Avid by decades in the media management front.

Agreed. I have been working with Avid since their very first Media Composer (very happily I must say) but six years ago we ditched most of our Avid systems for FCP for various reasons, one of the most important being that I didn't see any real progress in it that would fit our future workflows. And FCP was growing to be an acceptable alternative at that time. I haven't regretted this so far and with the recent change in the fcp ecosystem I feel that we have made the right choice. But we always keep an eye on developments, no supplier is sacred for us.

I'm the same Ronny, and I think it's great that more and more people are seeing the benefits in this, no good comes from bigotry/favouritism (maybe a bit harsh, but sums it up). An open mind only does good for the open minded.
