the flags = simple overlays - blend mode: overlay or multiply - depends on the scene and the look u wanna acomplish.

the jumpcuts over the drumfills = strobe effect / dual flicker / time jumps /
i think u can use produb from pixelfilmstudios. i remember that there should be also a strobe effekt in that plugin. u also can use a flicker or glitch plugin like mglitch. But u have to edit by hand and ear because the 808 snare rolls are so fast that also a plugin like trapcode soundkeys not getting a good result. most of the edits is done by hand. there is no plugin that solve the thing in automatic mode im doing a lot musicvideos so i wish there is one - but NOPE

i guess that video is finished in after effects anyway and i recommend u to give aescripts a visit - because theres a lot of scripts there that solve any of the effects seen in that video. i would do that in AE for sure.

I didn't kno after effects could help me , I always thought I had to record on green screen to even consider using after effects !!! How do I go about adding different effects and do I do it in post production

after fx is not just for greenscreen stuff - its a very very powerfull tool. to get your head into this i really recommend u to look at andrew kramers website: videocopilot.net. go to the tutorial section and go to the first tutorial and u will see where many hip hop & music videos get a good inspiration from

very powerfull find the "black & white" G-Shock clip i did. it has a lil bit of that cuts u asked for help. its done in fcpx alone
