I was in Ålesund, a town on the west side of Norway. Was laying on the bed at the hotel room and reading about Syria.
Suddenly I got this urge to photograph, to film wars. Sadness, anger, disappointment, feelings, guns, faces, injuries etc. I went to Vimeo, and pushed my patience because of the bad internet connections, to see if anybody had made such films. I couldn't find, but searching for "war photographs" I got several pictures.
Before I fell to sleep I was really motivated by my impulse.
The next day I was thinking a lot of this, and when to see Tom Hank's movie, "Captain Phillips" (awesome film!!).
No I wanted do capture wars even more.
But then, I was reading this magazine and I saw a movie called "A Thousand Times Goodnight".
And I was thinking, dang, that man stole my idea! So when I come home with my film, everyone is going to think I stole Erik Poppe's idea.
Well, I still want to capture war on moving pictures. Not stills, which looks to be very popular.
Internet is flooding with vacation footages. I want to capture war - this time.
My country, and many other are warning us to go to countries with war. And of course my insurance company wont't cover me if I go.
Any advice?
