Aspect ratio

What is the difference?
I wanted the 2.35.1 look on Vimeo, without letterbox(before choosing full screen). I tried Compressor and achieved this look. But the aspect ratio changed. The film looks compressed.
When watching 2.35.1 on cinema, does the director use an anamorphic lens when shooting?
Is there any way to achieve the 2.35.1 look on Vimeo without the letterbox without compressing?
