out of topic, but nonetheless I would like to hear if anyone has any experience with transferring big files, 200-600GB, from one computer to another via internet, without all kinds of setup, router porting and that kind of stuff, just simply move a folder with raw files 3 times a week
We used to do it on Ichat, (on smaller files) it were kind of pier to pier, not first upload to server, and then down again, but from desktop to desktop
I have tried Messages, but struggles with the setup, it f…. my brain and my Iphone and I kind of gave up on it
Then we tried Teamviewer, it works like a charm, but have a bandwidth limit on 5MB/s, and we got 100 MB/s upload, so we should be able to do some serious transfer, but how to we do it without being a network engineer, where is the magic app?
Thanks

Like I said, it works for us. It should just be a web interface. You can use the folder on osx, but it's a bit slower to sync, or maybe your internet upload is not as fast as you think it is.
Yeah it's upload/download. If that's not acceptable you could always try setting a vpn, but as you say your not particular skilled with networking, for the trouble it might be worth accepting what is a very minimal delay.
You don't have to pay for drive, you only pay if you want more than the 15 gig that comes by default
Good luck.

dreaming of an wonder app that makes one click direct connection to the desktop via internet, just like a mac connectet to ethernet, just remote, fast VPN for dummies

Oh I read 600MB, sorry mate. Yeah you'll need something a bit more involved. You could try something like a nas from synology or something similar with a built in vpn access? It's a bit easier than configuring your own server. I can't believe that 600GB worked over iChat! Thats amazing.

Awesome, let us know how it works. I don't quite have a need for it yet, but I'm sure I will in the future.

Ok, I've played with it a little today and here's one way I would like to use it, but I wanted to see if anyone knows of any issues this will create.
Basically it lets you just pick folders to sync. Can I just have it sync my whole external thunderbolt drives where all of my events and projects are stored? Would this cause any issues with FCPX in terms of event and project ID's?
If this works, I think it could make a pretty awesome setup.
