I really would like for the Seagate company to be swallowed up by a large type black hole. Two hard drive failures within a week. My internal HD in my iMac....then the external that I had put everything onto from the first one as I got the first one fixed....... That means ALL video files are gone at this point.

Any advice for retrieving data?

No backup drives? Always have backup drives. There are data retrieval services, but they're expensive, and I've rarely seen them actually recover anything worth while.

Ben it was the backup drive. My iMac seagate drive failed. I was able to get the important stuff onto the external seagate drive...got the imac back...went to put the files back onto the imac..and the backup seagate drive failed... I guess I need a back up for all back ups, and abackup for those. How freaking irritating!

My 3T Seagate drive crashed in the middle of a consolidation BEFORE backup. The company was very understanding and helpful in getting me 99.8% of my data back. Talk to them about doing the same for you, it takes just three steps.
1) I sent them $99 to look AT the drive.
2) I sent them $499 to look INTO the drive.
3) I sent them $1199 to RECOVER the data.

Since I had not used all the space on my 3T drive they returned my data on a FREE 2T drive.

It's not clear to me if this is a joke or not.

Don't worry i got you, smothered, covered, and chunked sarcasm. For now it shall sit on the bottom shelf along with the dead internal HD. Emails and messages have been sent to all effected parties. I guess I will be going with WD or someone else for sure though.
