Camcorder feedback

Hi. I used to have a Toshiba Camileo. Unfortunately that camcorder is not compatible with Imovie and FCP. It's only compatible with windows based system. I haven't tried using that on adobe premiere. Anyway I gave that cam to my mom during her visit to the US last March. Right now I'm just using a sony digital cam to take videos and shoot photos. My Sony camera is capable of shooting HD videos. I want to buy a camcorder in a couple of months. I don't want to buy a high end camera. I was thinking of buying this video cam. The Panasonic HC-V110k. Here is the recording format [AVCHD] AVCHD / [iFrame / MP4] MP4 and the compression method MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. Would this work with FCP and iMovie. How about adobe premiere pro? This retails for $180 at newegg.com. Let me know if this is a good buy.

You want to check the compatibility chart Apple has posted.
help.apple.com/finalcutpro/cameras/en/index.html ?
If it is not listed there, doesn't mean it won't work, but Apple hasn't tested and approved it yet, "maybe". Or they have and it won't work. Perhaps some other users here have used those cams and can chime in. Otherwise, do web searches to see what other users have discovered.

ANY actual camcorder, using AVCHD is compatible with iMovie/FCPX
only difference is: actual, but 4y old iM11 is still stuck on AVCHDv1 specs - so, no support beyond 1080/30p
For usage of devices with 1080/50p/60p or beyond (as GoPro BE, 120fps) you need FCPX.
Many manufacturers offer 'free' software - this is mostly limited to Windows in its many flavors. And, to mention it: cameras need no 'drivers' on MacOS.-
Many devices record straight into mov containers (such as Canons videoDSLRs); or mp4 containers => no prob for iMovie/FCPX. I'm using e.g. historic Kodak Z1 (720/60p), never listed as compatible for MacOS - no probs at all! Or, some weird Rollei Action Cam (30€ eBay finding) ... 120° optics, in use as 'suicide cam' inside a soccer-goal - flawless (aside some white balance probs).
only very old findings in some garage-sales offer divx in mp4 or divx in avi … needs plugins to handle.

avoid exotic brands, avoid too-good-too-be-true price offers.-
and, just to mention:
that iFrame-thingie was one of the rare 'flops' of Apple, not needed. Or, doesn't add any value. iM and FCPX both offer to transcode into intermediates/proxies, which work flawless, even on under-powered systems as my 6y old MacMini.

I just checked on that. This camera is compatible with FCP 10.0.8. I'll save up for this camera.
