Hello all!
Not sure if this is the correct forum in which to put this out there for you all but I'd like to extend you all an offer that you can't refuse
I'm a composer and audio post guy with high hopes of breaking into the film/video world. I'd really love to do some video editing and/or scoring work so I'm offering you all this service: Send me your video clips, storyline and guidelines for what you'd like to hear in the way of musical scoring and I'll do your project for free. No strings attached. If you end up hating it, nothing lost, nothing gained. If you end up loving it, we'll talk but I assure you, I've been in the music business for years (retired for 10 years, just trying to break back in) and I'm easy going, and just want to do and be involved with some awesome projects.
If you're interested, message me here and upon hearing what you'd like, I can send you appropriate examples of my work. If I do not have examples that fit your needs, I'll assess it and let you know if I think I can do it. Easy peasy. Don't be shy!

We've had a few people asking about original music, so I think you'll find interest.
Do you have any online samples so people can get an idea of what you can do?
thanks for your generosity

If you only want to post music, SoundCloud is a great service. But, as someone who has been composing for video for a long time, I'd recommend posting music in actual video clips. And do the leg work. Finding original scoring work is not as easy as you may think. Lots of folks want it, few are willing to pay for it. Do NOT give it away!

I would love to take you up on this offer. I write a lot of my own music, but sometimes I get a bit of a "writer's block." I am in the process of shooting a 30 minute movie, and it is nearing completion. However, I was wondering if you wanted to write the score for one of the scenes. I would love to see what you can do!

Hello Everyone and thanks for the responses and support so far.
Below is a link for my Soundcloud site. There's a plethora of different styles here so don't make any judgments on the first thing you hear. If you have the time to weed through, please do. Also, if you have any critiques and or special requests, don't hesitate. There's certainly a vast amount of themes and moods for film scores and I'm certain I haven't satisfied them all here but don't let that stop you from making special requests. I love music and can do most styles. I prefer dark and moody stuff but I'm by no means limited to that. I can do classical stuff, dance, hip hop, country, rock whatever. I'm happy to do my very best to accommodate your needs.
Thanks again for you interest and supportive comments!

Wow, I have to say, Peter, that's an impressive array of genres & styles. Rare to meet a musician with that broad a palette. I can see a lot of those tracks working with film.
One last question before I put this out to my Twitter followers, a few of your tracks have vocals, do you have the rights to those too?
Thanks again.

Hey Trix!
Thanks so much for your kind words. Always appreciated!
Anything posted on my SC page I have the rights to with the exception of "Burning Down". I wrote the music and produced the track but the artist "Naomi" wrote the lyrics and thus retains a portion of the publishing on. There are a couple of older tracks which have been published via EMI music but I do share ownership of the rights to. That said, they are useable if the interest is there. I think there maybe only 1 or 2 songs of which that would apply to. Otherwise, I own 100% of everything else and as I mentioned, the songs posted on SC represent about only 10% of my catalogue.
Since you brought it up (and I forgot to mention it) the publishing rights for any compositions I do within the outline of this offer are to be retained by me. I just won't be charging anyone anything to do them. As per sync licenses, I'm very agreeable and openminded. I really just want to begin working with creative individuals in the film industry.
In addition, I have an extensive (4 terrabyte at last count) sound library and massive collection of software based synths that are designed specifically for soundscapes/scores.
I hope you're inspired by some of this and we can do something together!

Hello Ben!
Sorry that my reply to this is out of order. You're comments (as usual) are all very valid and I appreciate them all very much. I've really had a tough time getting my foot jammed inside this door since returning to Canada. I don't know what I have to do in order to get work in this venue and like most artists, I'd rather be creating stuff rather than sitting around waiting for a paying client. We're not getting any younger, as they say.
The industry has changed so much over the years and as sad as it is, getting paid for your creative work is easier said than done. I've replied to resumes which are requiring skills I mastered years ago but nothing happens. It's very frustrating I have to say. I'm not above doing anything. Like I said, I just want to be doing something and working at Home Depot is NOT an option. LOL!
By the way, I visited your website, downloaded a few of your FCP plugs. Looks like you're providing a great service there! Keep up the good work!!!

Awesome! Right now I am going through the SC page. I don't see a download link anywhere though (maybe I'm just blind, haha). Is there a way I can download the files? Also, since you mention that you do this for free, I am assuming it would be no problem if I use this music in YouTube uploads, yes? I would give you full credit, of course.

Hey Hildron!
Glad you're finding some things that you like or that you feel are suitable.
I suppose my main intention for posting this article was to find people to work with and become involved with on a professional, ongoing basis. In other words, writing and/or editing audio and film for specific projects. I hadn't anticipated handing over work and allowing people to use it as they see fit but, I'm not opposed to that. I'd have to see what it was being used for (wouldn't wanna see it turn up in a porn flick LOL  ). Additionally, most of the works published on SC are unfinished or "works in progress" that I've really never considered to be finished or complete. Not that it makes a lot of difference I guess. If you like it, you like it, yes?
The download option has always been disabled. I'd be happy to send you whatever you like provided I can see what you're up to and am okay with the use of the material. Can you send me something? Link? Files? etc.
So . . . let me know what you're up to there and as well, (you never know) I could tailor make the audio as per your needs if it's not 100% fitting. i.e.: edit, lengthen, write additional parts, simplify etc.
