As the title says....

Tonight I'm commencing to restructure pricing for what we offer. So of course I'm doing research into comparable companies in my area. When I came a cross one persons site who has most of the popular and recognizable wedding videographers prices posted on a page. Where you can compare prices from minimum to maximum with there names highlighted. My initial thought are of this. If they were to post my prices i would promptly ask for them to take down our name...especially if they had no permission to do so.

Or..... Since these are prices that are posted on there website for all to see....would you have a leg to stand on? I think then...they are not in the wrong...but....hmmmm. Is it bending an unwritten rule?

Your thoughts.

I also think to myself. Thanks dude for free advertising! Where someone was going to go with them...then checks us out and goes with us. Bummer for you.

Prices for services are public information. Just like any consumer protection organization, they have the right to compare public information about similar services and goods.

Well I've worked at gym's and we never published or really talked about other gyms prices. If this person is really comparing prices that hard, then their work probably isn't that great.

If you sell yourself on the quality of your work, the price won't be that important, possibly something to work into your conversations. Of course some people only care about money, but it's their wedding, do they really want to take a chance on screwing this moment up to save a few bucks, or do they want it done right by hiring you?

Seems like price is their only selling point, I wouldn't be too worried or annoyed.

Thanks Julian for the analog. And i'm not worried at all...it just kinda made me go hmmm...weird. They aren't that bad actually and did make the comment as well that the people listed are good and that money shouldn't be a concern as well. It was worded nicely...still... It was the first time I've sen it done.

If that's the case, I'd say just try and get to know them. Couldn't hurt to know them in case they throw business your way, or you theirs. It's a small world, better to be friends than harsh competition.
