Why a MacPro delay? was created by wdevn
Talk is still strong concerning why we don't see a new MacPro.
An editor friend in Beijing sent me this link about three days ago and this could be at least a small reason why we don't see a new MacPro yet. I think we can agree that the hardware needed to create a butt kicking MacPro may be on the horizon.

I do see a need for a new MacPro. However, from what I am seeing in my part of the world, no one is just sitting around waiting for a new MacPro. I know four video production companies, two in Beijing, one in Shanghai and one in Osaka, who have moved their work to the latest iMac with external Thunderbolt drives. They are not getting caught up in the hardware battle cry.
A new MacPro is on the horizon for sure!

NICE!! I'm a believer too. I just hope the old girl can hang in there until the shiny new Mac Pro comes out.
She's beginning to show her age after nearly 6 years.

I'm looking at an early 2008 Mac Pros. 16 GB RAM, internal 4TB drives, HD 5780 GPU. It blows away my brand new 15" maxed out rMBP, and two brand new maxed out iMacs when working with native 4K REDCODE RAW files. It blows all three away working with Motion. And with the new
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition
, it will be even more powerful. A new Mac Pro will have to be VERY powerful to replace it, realistically, which I completely expect to hear at WWDC 2013. For an 5 year old Mac to still be so powerful to me is really impressive. You couldn't pay me enough to move to an iMac at this time. Their GPUs (their major weak link) are still not up to real FCP/Motion speed, IMHO.
Here's to the new hardware announcements at WWDC 2013!

What about the 17" Lapzilla (17" Macbook Pro) - I wonder will it ever be rereleased? Strange that Apple started the trend for big laptops, and then dumped the idea.
I love my Lapzilla, and while the new retina displays offer more resolution, they just don't offer the same amount of real estate space on the screen - resolution doesn't change this...
I wonder if the reason was the cost of larger retina displays; and if the price drops over time will they relaunch the big macbook pro?
