RED Epic & Scarlet Noisy Fan Issue Addressed at NAB

A while back I saw one of the excellent Apple videos of a behind the scenes look at what goes into the new MacBook Pro. They talked about designing a new kind of fan with uneven blade lengths. This, instead of creating a specific frequency noise, reduces the noise down to imperceptibility. Curious if anyone else saw this. I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

RED's cameras have a fan that kicks on during overheat times - Audio Technicians on set have described the sound as reminiscent of a "hair dryer or vacuum cleaner."

Of course this isn't a problem with todays movies which favor explosions to dialogue.

Anyway, RED says they've fixed it ....
