Hi all
I'm new to the forum & in need of help...
I'm using FCP 6.0.6 (can't afford the upgrade yet!!) & am having trouble with what look like interlacing artefacts...I have tried every combination of de-interlacing & anti-flicker filter, changed the sequence settings & still the artefact remains...please see attachment. This is occurring on still animated images & motion sequences but only when they move quickly.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be eternally grateful??
Many thanks,
Nick

Can't see the attachment. You are probably editing in an interlaced Sequence. As for stills, stripes and other hard patters with thin lines are problematic. Don't make text too thin, or use thin lines in graphics. In graphics, add a teeny tiny blur to things with thin lines and hard edges. Don't move stills quickly.
One option is to edit in a progressive Sequence, perhaps use Compressor to convert your interlaced stuff to progressive.
Interlaced has always been a pain. When the NTSC standard was adopted in the US, Japan adopted the same NTSC, but made it progressive. US should have done that, too. Ugh...

Hey Ben,
Sorry you can't see the attachment & thanks for the advice. I have tried both interlaced & progressive sequences & it makes no difference. I think it must just be stills moving quite quickly that is the problem...might try exporting them as a mov & see if that helps??
Thanks again
