Clever, delightful & has heart.

Here's a fun mental exercise... how do you think he produced the effects of the trees going by or the lamps spinning, without altering the speed of the video playing on the computer?

That´s amazing!
Really good, and love the music!

But no, to answer your question.
I don´t even know how he got the lamps spinning, and also got the video playing on the tv.
Please tell me! :)

Ahh, it´s google maps. That´s why he got the video playing. But the video looks so smooth. Is the google street view that smooth?

Can't be certain how he did it, but I had 2 ideas as guesses. The first thing I thought of is actually more difficult & so I abandoned it. That was the idea that he green screened the mac's screen & added the normal speed video to the screen in post. Though it's doable, it's overly complicated because he's tracking by the screen with the little robot obscuring part of it. This necessitates match moving, masks etc.

My second guess seems far more plausible. That being that because he's working with stop motion & has an excellent understanding of frame rates & movement to simulate natural motion, it would be simple to click thru your "street view" frames on the Mac screen at the appropriate rate, as you are spinning your lamps, tracking your shot, all in small incremental steps to make up the stop motion animation.

Nothing is easy, but he's done an outstanding job of bringing the whole thing to life, even with a tinge of emotion & sense of wonder.

Looked like he had some spinning board behind the monitor with objects placed on top so they go around and round (maybe also a mirror there)? Looked at it very briefly the other day but I was distracted by something else at the time; so I am just guessing...

Wonderful video, I like it very much. Obviously he used Dragonframe ( www.dragonframe.com/ ) and a customized camera slider (with appropriate time control, I assume), a safe bet would be that it is completely stop motion. Then, of course, the Google Street View section on the iMac screen does also look smooth ;-)

This google street view he´s using. Is it the same as everybody elses street view? Or does Mac have something PC don´t?

It´s impressing, and I would love to know how he does that.

Same street views, he just captures them and creates a stop motion from them.
