Hard Drive Sony Handycam Settings? was created by

So I wanna make a short film just for fun but I want it to be nice looking. I'm borrowing an HD Handycam from a friend. Are there any settings I can use on the camera to make my footage better? I watched a video on You Tube but it was for DSLR. Is there something like this for an amateur camcorder?
