Multitrack USB Mixer for new iMac was created by wdevn
I have a new 27 inch iMac coming in a few days and I would like to know, because the new iMac doesn't have an audio input jack, is there a small USB mixer that I can use that I would allow me to record multi-tracks. I heard that this may be possible with some USB mixers.

There is one audio mini-plug on the new iMac that does both input and output, you just can't do both at the same time, it seems.
If you want to record multiple sources at one time, my personal recommendations are the Apogee series, or the PreSonus series of USB i/o devices. I've played with lots of different brands in many studios, and those are the two I know will give top shelf quality audio in and out, and are super reliable.
What applications do you plan to use these with?

Thanks Ben! I am hoping to use this mixer with apps like Audition to later load in FCPX. Also, I hope to use this mixer with Wirecast for the WEB shows. Isn't there a spitter I could use to separate audio in and out?

FCPX won't read audio control surfaces. I know, sucks. Love my Euphonix MC Mix to death with Logic, but with FCP X, nope.
As for audio in and out, you'd need more than a plain mixer, you'd need an actual i/o device like my PreSonus FireStudio Project that gives me 8 descreet ins and outs.
I'm not familiar with your unit, read the documentation for it, but if it is USB, I'd assume you will get individual ins and outs. You're DAW software has to support it, though. Do your homework, be sure it does what you want, and works with the specific apps you need it to work with.
As of this moment, FCP X doesn't work with any audio or color grading control surfaces. Only with transport controllers, such as my Euphonix MC Transport.
Oh, right, Euphonix got bought out by Avid, and their drivers killed off all my MC series controllers, so they don't work any more. Thanks Avid! Who has zero tech support for these things. Thank goodness Sweetwater tech support is giving me a hand.
