Shot entirely on a phone! Not even an iPhone :(

However, the brilliant idea was executed well enough to win the contest hosted by Nokia.

Remember that brilliant thing you wrote yesterday? Well, I hope you remember it, because for some bizarre reason an Eastern European hacker is attacking this site, hence the disappearing posts. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his nutsack.

Anyway, this thread had a response from Ben who wasn't really syncing with the narrative thread of this video, so I presented this next one by a young film student who is following me on Twitter @GlobalWatchM3

This video is another clever love story without any dialogue, I found it highly entertaining.

enjoy

Not just me, the people who adjudicated the global Nokia contest. It's actually a marvelous story, simple yet poignant. Two people on opposite sides of the world lead surprisingly similar lives, you could say they're metaphorically geosynchronous, in that they're doing the exact same thing at the same time on opposite sides of the planet. Their travel brings them face to face & at that moment, they know... it's love at first sight.

Since Nokia is about connecting people they chose this brief yet brilliant story to represent their multibillion dollar company. (not to mention, recognizing the complex logistics of filming the piece)

Many people reading this could probably come up with a better idea, so I encourage you to enter contests, the prizes are often extremely lucrative. (just think of all the shiny new state-of-the-art gear you could buy...)

So I shall keep posting video contests here...

Well, can we really say one view is "correct" when it comes to art? All opinions are subjective. However, when one wants to appeal to as many people as possible there are certain components that draw people in. Love goes beyond a chemical or biological function, it's a universal spiritual energy. That's why romantic films, books, songs, etc, will never go out of style. Also, people are attracted to things that are clever, & of course simple plus clever is genius.

If I enter a contest & don't win, I'm presented with an interesting choice. Sure I could sulk & be angry with the decision makers, or I could really study the winner's work & ask myself challenging questions like; how can I be more creative? How could I improve on their already great idea? Things like that...

What sort of idea do you think would be interesting & original for a Nokia video?
