Recently I've been thinking that I'd love to see Tim Burton tackling a remake of The Wizard of Oz. I just thought it could be fun/interesting to hear other matches to films and directors.

Hehe... I like the idea. I'm sure he'd find a role for Johnny Depp in it.
The big sci-fi flick I'm hoping they remake is Soylent Green.

That's definitely a yes from me on "Soylent Green". I'd like to see Ridley Scott do it, hopefully he wouldn't be in retirement for a 2022 release date.
Maybe even Coppola or Scorsese.

Since I mentioned Soylent Green I was thinking about Omega Man, but of course they already attempted that with I Am Legend.
Maybe I could be persuaded to see a Ridley Scott remake of Zardoz. hehe

Here's one that could be more mental than Tim Burton doing The Wizard of Oz.
Quentin Tarantino's take on Batman, I recon that would be great.

Sorry, I'm going to get flamed for this, but after watching the remake of Total Recall, which made me almost throw up it was so horrible, and a similar result for the latest Spiderman remake, I'm sick of remakes. When will these guys "create" rather than "rehash"?
I personally am just sick of remakes, even more so than I'm sick of lens flares and light leaks. They make me nauseous, they are not art (IMHO).

I should hope your not going to get flamed for your opinion. Personally I don't mind remakes. If I fancy it I'll watch it, if I don't I won't.
Batman in particular has seen many interpretations, maybe more than any other? And many films are remakes of books, and classic tales. I often think about what I would have done different when watching films and I'm interested to see big name directors, with means and talent way beyond my own, interpretations.

Very little originality exists these days, especially in Hollywood. Or as old king Solomon said, "There's nothing new under the sun."
Sometimes one has to go abroad to see some of the creative minds & hearts expressed in foreign films. At least those usually aren't copied from 70's TV shows.
Had to laugh reading Ben's post about Total Recall, I tried to warn you guys... were there enough lens flares for you? hehe...
