As the World will end today - 100 Years of Visual Effects in 5 minutes

Well we know that should be 103 years, but cool anyway

Impressive montage, & most amazing is how effective some of the earliest ones look. The opening top-hat effect, parting of the Red Sea, couple walking thru traffic into the forest, Jason & the Argonauts, etc. Perfect music for the piece too.

Interesting to consider the Abyss movie used Soft Image software which I think was over $100,000, & yet now all that can be done on a little laptop & a tiny budget.

The development is accelerating so fast now, who knows what we'll be able to do in another year?
Certainly not the Mayans...

That reminds me that I need to change the battery in my Amiga 4000 tower with the Cyberstorm 68060 CPU

Thanks for posting the link, it was a great watch. But I couldn't believe I just watched a clip on the history of visual effects with anything by Georges Méliès.
