Before I start I would just like to say Thank you to all of you for this site and forum as it has been a great resource when needed for those little things you don't know when starting out.
Anyways, short back ground... I am mainly a musician and Sound engineer but a lot of my influences are from the visual media (Lynch/Fincher/Eastwood/Lucas/Coppola) so in making this video I didn't want to do a "music" video, not to say I won't ever I just felt it was more important to capture the mood of the song visually more than anything else.
Anyways hope you like and look forward to your thoughts on my directorial /editorial debut...
Just to add I used FCP X on my 2010 13" MBP.

hey Gonk, thanks for posting up the edit. there is a lot to like here and a few things that might be worth considering going forward. Everytime I approach a shoot I try and check list some core things.
top of the pops is the rule of thirds, it will save our bacon everytime.
number two in the charts is 'where are the eyes?', I remember reading Michael Cain wisely saying cinema is all about the eyes, simple but important safeguard.
three, for the most part let the action happen in the frame not the frame be the action, compose the shot put that sucker on a tripod, shoot pre-roll, catch the action , shoot post roll. this will make the edit easier in the nle.
finally, with music vids cutting to the beat is always a sound approach (ouch!).
Thanks again for sharing the work and good times in the future
Lee

Hi Lee Thanks for taking the time to look at the video, you make some very good points that I will study/pay attention to in future, A friend of mine and myself literally shot the thing in about an hour, I just had an idea of the feel and certain images and wanted to get it done, otherwise I would have procrastinated and no-one would get to hear my music (+it was about to rain) was trying to go for that hand held, memory feel and got it done quick and dirty but I'm sure with more experience and with a better trained eye the following videos will build on this.
I already had in mind to make the next one a little more controlled using a Tripod etc. and if I'm not going to be the subject it will be easier to set up and film the shots.
Thanks again!
