In these excellent videos Shane Hurlbut (Terminator Salvation) talks about filming Act Of Valor on Canon 5D, does anyone know what the little device is that looks like a pair of mini-binoculars mounted on top of the Canons? I think it says Panavision on it, I'm guessing it's some kind of stereoscopic rangefinder...? just a guess...
thank you

:::: EDIT ::::
Well, after 4 days & no response, my curiosity got the best of me. So I wrote to Shane's site. They responded within an hour by connecting me to the manufacturer...
"the "mini binocular" system Shane uses.
It's actually an ultrasonic range finder for focus pullers known as a "Cinetape Measure" made by Cinematography Electronics.
Hope this helps.
