I shot/edited this video for NewOrleans Saints football player Malcolm Jenkins.

Shot on GoPro HERO2 cameras and edited/finished in FCPX.

I took like 12 hits making sure we got the frame right, By the time we were done I felt like I ran myself into a brick wall numerous times...
The final 1080 file looks great but the compression on the website looks like...

I’ll re-upload if I get permission to put it on Vimeo or Youtube sometime.

That's cool. How'd you get hooked up with him? Doing anything else for him?

Great job. BTW. That is a well done site, however, you might want to mention to the web developer/designer that the picture on this page is distorted and "squished" vertically.

Very well done, I love it! Yep, some one overly compressed the web version. Someone didn't know what they were really doing, I guess. Shame cause it's such a fantastic video clip.

I landed the gig through an ad agency I do work for in town here New Orleans.
At this point no plans for ongoing work with Malcolm or other players but it was a great, fun gig so I hope
similiar work comes my way!

Now about that horrendous 90's web compression... (We shot in 1080 and I delivered a pristine 720p file but they managed to compress it to dog @&%#...)

Ouch it is distorted lol!
Just to clarify I had nothing to do with uploading of any media...
I do really like what they did with the website so I hope they can get a higher quality video uploaded.

Thanks everyone for the feedback

Like everyone said, the video is great, I'd like to mention that I really liked the sound! Not only the crunch but the standing over you & walking away sounds too. Nicely done.

Thanks for the feedback!

We had a lav inside of Malcolms helmet and jersey. While I “exaggerated” the sounds in post, a lot of that “crunch” was from the production sound aka me getting ran over by Malcolm numerous times haha.

As for the "running/walking away" sounds I went out with my Zoom h1 after a hard rain and captured sounds of myself walking around in my backyard. I had to deliver the spot by that morning so I didn’t have a choice but to record the wet grass but I think it works.

We recorded running sounds of Malcolm on the day but it just didn’t quite line up or sound right. There was a lot of background noise in those recordings that I just couldn’t remove so I just re-recorded it.

Yep, live sound seldom works for the final product. That's why foley and sfx sounds are so popular. Did a great job with it, buddy.

I was a little surprised when you said "running away" - I might have to watch it again, but the sense I got, was he just walked away because you were finished as an opponent. This, for me, really added to conveying the ominous devastation he packs.

Yes that's correct, he just walks away at the end. But in the beginning I recorded running sounds as we were running towards each other and then walking sounds as he walks out of frame at the end.
And I'm glad you interpreted it that way because that's exactly what we were going for.
