Did this a couple of weeks ago:
C300 and 5D, all edited in FCPX.
Must say that from now on Im all FCPX. Now I totally get it, and bacasue of that I do have forgiveness over it´s minor flaws (there are deffo some of those, but they are getting fewer and fewer). Have probably open up FCP7 for the last time.
Now I just wait for rest of sweden to make the transfer. Currently I feel pretty alone.

Nice work, Arctistic. Enjoyed the camera work, editing, content, music, all very professional, & an effective delivery of the message. Curious to know what other rigging you might have used (slider, steadicam type rig, etc). The tracking shots really added value. Especially liked the well planed sequence that led to him getting on the bike. Him framed in that window as we dolly zoomed was beautiful.
There's a slight continuity issue I have with the color grading. We have a lot of very rich saturated film-look shots, but our first exterior shot of him riding towards us on the street is desaturated almost washed out like a 70's style bleach bypass. Then we have more rich tones, then him sitting in the window talking to us, desaturated again. For this piece, I'd prefer the whole thing to be in the richer tones, they really pop & show the gorgeous architecture, settings, city, doors & bricks & even tiny little details (like the red hub) that catch our eye & up interest levels. FCPX has a color matching method whereby when you've created the look you like, you can copy & paste it to other clips, adjust as necessary, tweak to perfection.

thanks!
I mostly use a small pico dolly and grab whatever planar surface there is to roll on. This one actually:
www.kaffebrus.com/pico-dolly-1744.html
It works fine most of the times, and it makes me work fast in a run and gun style...more shooting, less preparations, thats my tune.
The height of the C300 makes it a little wobbly so there is need for attention when sliding.
For this I also used a glidecam 4000 (the stick only)
agree on grading, but it would have needed to go to external grading in that case....and we where on tight budget. Im not a colorist. FCPX color matching do the trick some times, but mostly it fails in epic magnitues....thats my experience anyway.
On my wishlist is that when you do a color match:
the settings in the colorcorrections will display what has been done to them, so you can finetune it back to less of the effect.

Well, you've certainly got nice cameras to play with. Some people are getting some fairly good results color-wise in FCPX. Even just crushing the blacks & upping the saturation on the greens a bit might make it look a little less washed out. The rest is so gorgeous, but the color continuity is a little jarring. Thus breaks the flow.
Looking forward to your next film...

Very good, Arctistic!
I love cycling, and I just loved the way you filmed this. Use of dolly and camera work. Great color grading!
I actually bought the dolly a couple of weeks ago. Haven't have the time to use it yet. But no I'm really looking forward to it.
How did you achieve that color look? I'm trying to get this 70's look, but I'm not satisfied with my own work.
