What better way to make my first post here than to plug a video I edited in FCPX! The moving timelapse portions were pieced in After Effects, but all the editing and slow-mo was done in FCPX. Used a Nikon D800 and a Panasonic LX7.

Enjoy!

Some gorgeous imagery, beautifully sharp & clear too. The beginning fast to slow draws us in. The night shots of the city will probably make some here curious about your settings, as the lower light capabilities seemed excellent. Some of the colors were lush & vibrant, in particular the bamboo forest & final shots. The slowmo seems entirely adequate, of course you're not shooting any envelope pushing action, but the gentle graceful feel matches the music & works here. A couple of shots I wouldn't have minded a slight zoom of 5-8% added in post. Like the first fairly still shot down the corridor pathway thru the bamboo forest, also maybe the red boards (signs?). The pacing is so slow, some of those shots failed to hold my attention, like the red boards as I don't know what their significance is nor can I read the writing. The split screen didn't really grab me, especially the way it started with the black box. If you'd slid that other shot in pushing the other one back, I think it's a better split screen transition. But really to hold a split screen we need stronger content. As it was, the carved initials grew old fast. The bamboo forest is so breathtakingly beautiful I would have preferred more of it in perhaps some other interesting ways, The split screen here instead of adding value, detracted some. We had a unique fascinating place but we added something common in an obtrusive way. Train at fast speed shot out the front, I was expecting a drop to slowmo as we entered under the lit building, or perhaps during the interior of the station...

Nice work, intriguing culture. Thanks for sharing. Love your logo burning up at the end.
