Once again, Andreas, you certainly deliver the goods here. One can’t help but grin from ear to ear watching this piece, the joy captured is joy shared. Thank you.

Some cinematically outstanding moments for me are the low tracking shots, when we see her thru the hanging beads in the doorway, the bokeh leading to the lanterns floating heavenward, of course the children, but probably mostly the candid shots of real people enjoying life. Beautiful. There’s a very subtle thing you do on the final fade as we end with the moon then their names, but they shift off to the right as they are moving on. I like it.

First time we’ve seen what looks like at least a second marriage with children onboard, wonderfully handled, everyone here seems a natural performer or blissfully full of joie de vivre (or whatever its Italian equivalent). Other little moments with shoes or hands are sweet, but there are a couple of very slight negatives for me.

The song is perfectly fitting, but its structure has what sounds like a verse repeated which brings loss of interest, it may in fact be how she leads into her chorus, but hearing the “I’ll buy you rogain,” section twice taxes the viewer, as well as making it difficult for you to match images to that section. With your proficiency in the FCPX software & video editing, you could probably pick up an audio editor like AmadeusPro & quickly master rearranging chunks of songs seamlessly to create a soundscape that better fits your cinematic vision. I’ve worked with guys doing this & it’s perhaps even easier than video to juggle in the timeline, you just have to match the beat timing.

Speaking of matching the beats, there are a few things you do, which don’t work so well for me. The little forward & back jerks in the dance moves, don’t really grab me, I prefer the second time you do the same thing but use little jump cuts forward in the dancing timeline, instead of forward & back. Similarly when the children are riding in the little car, you match the beat with swapping color treatments, one of which is exceedingly lackluster. If you must match something to the beat there, I’d prefer frozen 1 or half second frames of their most jubilant moments in the frame flow. That way we can keep them in their gloriously happy sunny color grade & not ever see them in dull desaturated 60’s vision, or whatever that is.

All in all, minuscule speed-bumps which can barely detract from another gorgeous little film, from a master of the genre.

Please keep em coming, Andreas, they’re such a pleasure to enjoy.
