Hey all.

Just finished a one-minute(-ish) video with highlights from my daily commute. No storyline, no nothing, not even decent colour correction (other than the automatic one), but still thought I'd share:

Cheers,

Brian.

Thanks for the vid, lots of mount changes. Hope you'll share your thoughts about the GoPro here. Will be getting the GP3 Black addition sometime in the near future. Think it will be a fun little camera. Have some projects in mind.
Anyone else have the new Hero3 want to share? Especially interested in hearing from people with experiences with both older versions and the new 3 versions (Black, Silver, White).

Here are some thoughts on the gopro

There were quite a few mount changes in there as I was looking for good places on the bike. The fire-and-forget method also creates vast amounts of footage to plough through, so be wary of that. As you perhaps guessed, this was recorded using a GP2, which according to tests on ye olde internette has near-identical performance to the silver edition of the GP3.
What surprised me about this camera was its dynamic range. If you have a scene with action in shadows and sunlit areas (or sunlight falling into the lens), all will actually be visible.
Secondly, the camera needs to be mounted in extreme locations. As someone else said, the camera itself is decidedly mediocre, so make sure the footage is compelling. With the available mounts, this is very possible if you dare place it inside the engine compartment, on a kite string, etc.
If you are shooting footage from moving objects, the wide-angle lens means everything will look boringly slow. It is important that the camera is therefore mounted as close as possible to the ground or other moving objects.
Sound is complete rubbish on the thing, get a sound recorder like the Olympus LS-11 (and an optional separate mike) if you need sound.
Time-lapse is a very fun feature, but for longer recordings you need to put power on that camera. This cannot be done from a computer, must instead be done from a USB adapter.
Lastly, it has many mounting options, but the weight of the camera means that the mounts should be as short as possible, and all those tiny knobs need to be screwed down TIGHT to stop the thing from moving.

Ok, that's it, time to play.
