Hello everyone!!! I have been lurking on this forum for months now and I finally decided to create an account today. There is so much helpful information/memebers on this forum its fantastic. As for myself Im basically a beginner in the final cut world, I'm currently using final cut pro x. The only equipment that I'm currently using is a canon t2i with kit lens and a 50 mm 1.8 here is a link of a video that I recently did and I want some feedback from the community on here as to how I can improve....

Here is the video link:

Some language in there you wouldn't want kids to hear (Editor)

Any feedback is appreciated thankyou everyone in advance

Like the intro, you have a nice grasp of visual effects, but I'm very old school. I expect to be told a "story" visually that enhances the story being told by the song.

Visual quality is really good, pacing it nice.

Watched your video, thanks for sharing.
First the good news, your man can rap. There have been quite a few "rappers" posting videos here, with no sense of rhythm, timing, flow, etc. This much, your man delivers.

Also, your use of effects, editing, tempo of visual cuts, is adequate, it works, on a functional level. I'm reticent to elevate it more than that, as the glaring obstruction to enjoyment that Ben pointed out, is inescapable. What's it about? What's the story? What's the message? Does it even have one?

Even a performance piece features the artist, he is the message, building the brand. Not so here...

All your random visual threads all seem to be at cross purposes, there is no commonality or even conflict, it's just a collection of running themes with no theme.

To the viewer, this raises the annoyance factor exponentially.

Ok, so you've got your rapper, bustin rhymes about Ho's with plenty of profanity (thanks for the heads up on that, BTW). But what does any of that have to do with the snake handling holy rollers? Nothing. The snake on the road, the flames of fire, nice images but just a random grab-bag of visuals that are so disjointed from the lyrical narrative, there is no juxtaposition, just irritation. Yes art is contrast, but this wasn't contrast, it was confusion.

These are directorial choices. Your technical skills are above serviceable, but your creative story telling needs some inspiration.

I kind of liked the rapper, the sound production & most of your effects, but hated the content, lyrically & visually.

The TV screen tricks worked ok for me, I particularly liked the effect where he became like a negative with the white mouth showing in the silhouette. I also liked the little periodic 80's style short scream that cycled thru the song from time to time. Although the track had no real hook. All the top rappers are breaking up their raps with a female chorus or an Akon or Chris Brown style chorus, you need a hook to make it memorable (something we want to hear or see again).

You've got the skills…. now add the content.
