VUO to FxPlug export in next release.

I’m not sure how many people here have come across VUO but I thought I mention a potentially very exciting development for FCPX/Motion users.

VUO is a nodal graphical programming language developed as a viable alternative to Quartz Composer (which Apple has effectively deprecated with lack of development) which can be used for many types of projects such as live visuals for projection, prototyping, effect plugins for VJ Apps and fully contained Apps in their own right. As a VUO user you get a series of votes to determine the direction of development and the last round of voting saw FxPlug export get a lot of votes and the VUO team is currently working on adding that to the next release.

I’m sure there are plenty of FCPX/Motion users like me who generally avoid buying plugins and build your own because you don’t want your work to look like everyone else’s. VUO obviously offers a lot of scope to extend what you can do in Motion and with the continued development of VUO more and more complex plugins will be able to be developed.

If you haven’t tried VUO I can thoroughly recommend checking it out. Vuo have a Vimeo page with some tutorials to get you going vimeo.com/vuo/videos and the App comes with a whole load of sample projects to pick apart and explore.

I’m in no way connected to VUO other than being a user who has used it in conjunction with VDMX to make interactive video projects and who is excited by the prospect of being able to create plugins for FCPX.
