We are working on a new plugin and would love your feedback. It will take the above scenario and turn it into this.
You are working on an edit for a client, and need to share for feedback. You choose the one-click publish to Wipster.io, select the clients contact info and allow the system to encode, upload and share the work. Moments later you start getting pinpoint accurate comments in an auto generated email, including the frame of the video it was made on. You invited three clients and they are all commenting at the same time on top of the video, when you have a queries, you reply to them right on the video as well. Within a very short time you've resolved what needs to happen with the edit, and start working through all the comments that have been turned into an automatic to-do list.
Your next edit is ready, and you click publish to Wipster.io again from the timeline and it adds it in a stack with the last edit, which you can refer back to (with all comments) the clients are invited to review again, and you go through the process.
All of this exists today, except for the FCPX plugin to allow one-click publish to Wipster.io
I would really love to hear specifically if this workflow would enhance what you are already doing, or make your life harder?
Many thanks.

Hope you can develop this feature for FCPx soon! Maybe AppleScript or Automator could help using the "When Done" command in FCPx.
In the meantime, you could also request it in the official feedback page > www.apple.com/feedback/finalcutpro.html

And yes the plugin would help, no doubt about it. At least "psychologically" since we don't have to export and then upload to Vimeo.
2. I'd like to make a suggestion: I also sometimes want to show something I am myself doubting about. Sometimes I use titles, but it's ugly on the video. If your plugin could take for example text from a marker (or something else), and includes it as a comment, then you'd take advantage of FCPX and it would be a nice time saver.
3. I don't know Wipster exactly. But one thing for sure, there's one thing that does add a lot of complexity: creating accounts for customers and asking them to login with a password. For this, nothing beats a Vimeo link with a password. Is Wipster proposing a "one click + 1 password solution" ? Curious about it!
4. Something boring yet important. With customers it's important to keep a written trace of every exchange. It can be for legal reasons, or clearing a misunderstanding, or referring to it easily. Emails are usefuls for this. You mentionned that it does send a report via email, so I think we're safe on this side ?
PS: just tried it (actually I seemed to already have an account... on firefox 35 dragging the example video does not work on my mac)

- Sorry to hear that! Tech are now looking into that browser. If you'd like personal help please message support@wipster.iomanoucho wrote: 1. It sounds really, really interesting. I spend my life "describing" stuff on that and that timecode instead of just showing it on the picture.
- the same happened to me, that's why we've built this product!

- Would you see it deleting steps you'd have to take without it?

- That's a great idea. What our customers do now is make their comments ontop of the video in Wipster, and then share it with clients. This means they can point out what they want to discuss. Importing those from FCPX is a great idea.

- With Wipster your client only has to click a link in an email and they are reviewing video with all comments tagged to them. You can also add a password incase the link gets out. If you don't want a bespoke link per person you can send a generic link (with or without a password) and when the person clicks it it will ask for their name (if they are already logged into Wipster, it will automatically know who they are).

- Every edit you upload (version stacking) and every project you have going, there is a log of every comment with the who, where, when and replies. When you upload a new version, the previous ones are kept, and you can refer to them.

Thanks so much for spending the time to write great comments and feedback.

Yes, definitely.
1. No export to desktop and then logging on website and then uploading.
2. Launch the export, go to bed, come back in the morning with the video uploaded and your colleagues feedback already in (in case of a notification of an update via email)
More important in my opinion: people are quite conservative and don't want to use many tools: mostly FCPX, Vimeo, and their email. By making it straight out of FCPX, it "feels" like an extension of the NLE, not an extra, unnecessary platform. So I would not underestimate the psychological aspect of the plugin. It would give an extra chance to your platform. It would not only be useful for us, it would be marketing for you.
Doubt: how would you keep versioning ? (uploading on top of former version instead of crating a new one everytime)

It would be really awesome. Then it becomes really part of FCPX. I think I'm not the only one using markers to write "notes for myself" and being able to share them automatically would be fantastic.
Even better than FPCX markers, "build Wipster" in FCPX. Exactly like on your website but in FCPX. It's totally possible in terms of plugin developement (see plugins like SliceX who use an interface on top of the video).
(Actually I think it's what you've understood from my previous post although I hadn't tought of it yet haha).
Or maybe both options.
Anyway. Would be great, great, great and I'm sure you'd get some great feedback from the community here.

Just tried it. It works and is very simple. Well done!

I've just tried with 1 guest link but I did not receive any notification in my mailbox (they are ON though). I will try again and if not will reach out to your support desk.
To conclude: I'm really impressed. I didn't even remember I had an account so I suppose it didn't impress me the first time, but this time I think you got me. Let's see if I keep using it the coming weeks.
I really hope you'll make the plugin though

PS: uploaded a version on top of another one. The info says "2 versions" but after 5min I really can't find the former version, and all the comments are gone. I don't find a menu to access it. I suspect users like me will think they've lost them...

- this is the dream scenario right!

- totally agree
how would you keep versioning?
- each video in the project view is the most current edit. there is a little 'back' arrow to flick between versions. This might need to be more obvious?

- you receive a message when there are new comments to view. did someone make comments?
I really hope you'll make the plugin though
