The GoPro Hero 3 with 4K in FCPX will be sweet or not? was created by waternyc
So one week after I purchased the wifi remote for my GoPro 2 they release the gopro 3 with built in wifi and 4K...!!! ...whos going to need that? Well, I will!
I wonder: How does FCPX handle the whole 3D thing?
How will FCPX handle the whole 4K thing? Its been done, what are your experiences?
How awesome will it be to have 4K in your pocket?
Can the light sensitivity be enough at this size?
Whats next?
Will the iPhone 6 have 8K?

I edited my first spot in 4K HD Prores 4444 last week on FCP X, on older hardware (iMac i7, 8GB RAM, Firewire800 drive) and had no problem whatsoever.
Source footage originally was from a RED Scarlet.
About 3D... There is a Dashwood Plugin. I only used it once in FCP X, and didn't got great performance, but I think that had to do with the fact that I was using it on Quicktime Wrapped XDCAM footage, and FCP X's performance with XDCAM is pretty bad at moments. FCP 7 seems better in this regards...

@sidderke
The Dashwood 3D plugin requires a very fast system for it to perform well. I doubt XDCAM has anything to do with this.
In fact I have had an excellent experience with editing native XDCAM HD in FCP10 when I was in London. Edited tons of native XDCAM 1080p25 footage on a bunch of MacBook Pros very fast and without one glitch, even on complex projects. Also did a couple of broadcast satellite transmissions live from an MBP with native XDCAM HD footage. For the record I must say that all footage was on a Promise Thunderbolt RAID. Very impressive.

Like sidderke said FCP10 will deal with 4K without any glitches. Only problem is the GoPro "4K" is recorded only at 12fps AND it is very heavily compressed, so don't expect any stunning video quality if your final edit is intended to be projected. If it's only for the internet this won't matter very much.
