The Very Best One-Key Shortcuts for Final Cut Pro 17 Nov 2022 21:12 #122933

Final Cut Pro is fast, but you can probably still work faster. While there are many, many shortcuts to learn, I’ve found that the best shortcuts are the ones you can hit with a single hand, and ideally, with a single key, without any modifiers at all.

Good stuff, Iain. KB shortcuts make life smoother. Remembering them is the trick.
FWIW, I have used F5 and 6 for Toggle Fade In and Toggle Fade Out respectively. F16, 17 and 18 are Mute Audio, Audio Up 1 dB and Audio Down 1 dB (yes, up and down are in the 'wrong' order...). I will never give up my extended keyboards. Also, since F5, 6, 16, 17 and 18 are blank, I can write on them in pencil so I remember what they are.

I completely agree: remembering is the trick!. My great help for this problem is Metagrid Pro apps.apple.com/us/app/metagrid-pro/id1579217556
This app for iPad is incredible useful and you can use it with other softwares (Motion, Logic...)

I like to take off the modifiers for zoom In / Out so it's just straight "-" & "=". Do a lot of hammering on those two keys!

I would suggest that an alternative trim combination would be G & H for the simple fact that they are right next to JKL so your fingers are already in that area rather than going up to the F keys. I don't think I have any keys mapped to the F keys its to far up the keyboard:-)
