Given the limitations of the standard Mask effect, I thought I could add some features:





As well as more points, you can control the density of the inside and outside of the mask:

Hi Alex - Yeah it all works. I really like the inside / outside opacity control. If you copy and stack you can quickly get to a 32point effect. Thanks

Thanks Alex for the plug-in, a question all the points of the mask should be movable because I can only move the top center and the bottom center the other are locked.

I know of 1 other person are having this problem. I think it's due to a bug in FCP X rendering of Motion 5 projects.

Sadly I can only start coming up with methods for fixing it once it happens on my setup.

I'll reply with news on this when I know more.

I've fixed the fault - it was due to a bug the way Final Cut Pro displays Motion 5 files.

If you go back to my blog post and click the same link as before, I've updated the .zip file.

Thanks for the Filter, I have one issue it seems the animation of the points are not functioning in FCPX.

The Points are moving but the matt itself is not. Using FCPX 10.0.1

Sadly that is a limitation of tracking points in the current versions of Motion 5 and the parts of Motion inside Final Cut Pro.

As soon as this changes I'll update the effect...

Hi Alex,

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I just removed Perian from my system preferences because I read in another post that Perian could cause crashes. After I removed it I dragged your 8 point mask effect onto a clip and I have all the onscreen controls on my screen and they are working properly too.
Since the update to 10.0.1 I didn't use the 8 point mask, so I don't know if it was working prior to removing Perian.
Anyway, it works now.
