When adding subtitles it is often desirable to add a "box" behind the text for optimum legibility.



Instead of having to add, scale and position this box manually, this title effect does it all in one.

The subtitle sits comfortably in the safe title area, although it can also be racked up and down vertically as required.

You can choose the scale of the box in relation to the text, both horizontally and vertically.

You can also adjust the box colour (it defaults to a dark gray), as well as the box opacity if you want it semi-transparent.

And of course the main advantage is that the box will automatically scale as you add more text.

Unzip and copy the entire folder into your User/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles folder.

I am new (somewhat) to FCP X, but I'm more at home with the earlier FCP versions.

So, can you give me a step-by-step process of how to use this TYK Subtitle Banner?

You only indicated where to put it, but WHERE and HOW do I find and use it on FCP X, that is the real question.

If you have installed it according to the instructions, then it will show up the next time you open up FCP X in your Titles browser under TKY Titles.

To add it to your timeline simply double-click the icon, or if you prefer, drag it from the browser to the place you want above your video clip.

To enter new text, click on the Text tab for the TKY Subtitler effect in the Inspector and enter the text there, or you can double click on the text in the Viewer and edit it from there.

To adjust the other parameters for this title effect, select the Title tab and you'll find what you need.
