Importing media - true beginner's question !

I have searched the forum for a previous similar question without success so here goes :

Why, when I import an image into Motion 5, do TWO identical bars appear in the timeline ?

One is the group, one is the image layer. Or image layer and others for effects. Can you post a screen shot?

Thank you -now it becomes clearer.

One problem has been, for me, that often when importing another image, it inserts itself BETWEEN the two timeline bars of the first image !
I assumed that that wasn't good ....

It will be placed directly above what ever layer is highlighted at the moment.


if the Group layer is highlighted it will be placed at the top of the group.

If nothing is highlighted, it will be placed inside a new Group.
