Effects no longer loading

All of a sudden none of the effects are loading. Just get the text saying "loading (effect name)".

Same thing on other files. Is there some button I might have pushed that stops the effects?
I'm on FCP X 10.4.6 running Mohave on a 2010 Mac Pro with Metal.

OK. Suddenly it's working again. Closed it and left it for a while. Re opened and it works.
No idea what happened.

Neal, restarting FCP or your Mac can help, quite often. I recall having to do the same when I was still using my 2012 Mac Pro (up through FCP 10.4.10, I believe).

As far as deleting posts goes, you can edit the post and then delete everything, then submit. It works for me (though I'm not sure if you delete the first post in a thread what happens). If you delete your two posts and mine remains, I'll delete mine too...

Maybe that's what happened. Working fine today, although sometimes the audio just stops until I stop and start the playing again. That's happened for a while.

I should probably leave the post here. Maybe someone can get something from it.

It may not be the case, but what you've described could happen as a drive fills up or some other issue with drives (e.g. a drive going bad, bad connection, etc.), or possibly some other SW or HW issue. It might be a good thing to do a Safe Boot startup cycle, and maybe even boot into recovery mode and run disk first aid in Disk Utility. If it continues, you might delete FCP's preferences, or even re-install FCP...
