Lost progress/project timeline & imported content within events after RAM crash was created by LR127
Pretty much the subject line. I was working on a project timeline for work in Final Cut X pro when I had a RAM crash. (What's important to note is part of my work is editing/creating videos for an online curriculum. So it is our common practice to leave the created events and projects in Final Cut until I have finished the entire curriculum. It takes up a lot of storage, but it had yet to cause issues until the RAM crashed.
We had added extra 32 GB RAM to the computer for a total of 40 GB RAM. One of the original 4GB OEM RAM sticks was what failed. That RAM stick was removed and the computer was able to launch successfully after upgrading to the latest OS.
When FCP was launched back up, timelines, projects, and clips remained for events where i exported edited clips, but Events where i only had edits were not saved. In addition, I couldn't restore from TimeMachine because the latest backup was from November 2022. This is the part i dont understand because I have exported plenty of clips since then and those events still have all of the content saved in FCP (projects, imported clips and timelines). But events where projects that had only been edited and not exported are no where to be found. Normally i would just restore a time machine backup, but like i said for some reason time machine has not been backing up since November 2022. This is weird to me since FCP has events/projects saved since then? (I understand the TIme Machine backup is probably a separate issue, just including it here to paint the picture of the problem)
Just looking if anyone else has experienced this or know what's going on? Thanks to anyone who responds.

Have you checked for backups in the default FCP location? ~/Movies/Final Cut Backups/

You haven't provided enough info for us to be certain about the advice we can offer. That said, here are some things you might consider providing or doing:
- We don't know which version of macOS or FCP you have been using. Which Mac are you using? Types of drives, internal and external, and for external drives how are they connected and formatted?
- Suffering a RAM failure is bad luck. Sorry to hear about that. I'd suggest you run a thorough test of your current RAM, in order to ensure things are working properly. Depending on the Mac you're using, you should make sure your installed RAM is set up for optimal functioning.
- Why did you upgrade macOS after the crash? That's a bit odd. You'd think you'd focus on making sure things were working properly before changing your configuration/setup.
- It's tough luck that Time Machine hasn't been running for so long. You should learn from this experience and keep a regular maintenance schedule, of sorts, where you check various aspects of your setup for proper operation.
- By default, FCP keeps backups of your Library files (without media or temp files) in your Movies folder. You might check the user manual for instructions about using a backup Library in FCP, choosing one of the backups (if you have them) from just before the RAM failure.
- It might also serve you well to learn more about FCP and media management. With larger or more complex projects (noting that in FCP "parlance" a project is called the Library, bins are called Events, and timelines are called Projects), you probably should consider keeping media stored outside of the Library (bundle) file.
This should be good food for thought...

I have the same questions as Dave...
The RAM situation sounds like 4 slots total - 2x4GB stock, 2x16GB added - so we're dealing with either a trashcan Mac Pro, or Intel iMac 27"
Not quite enough to go on.
