FCP Library Archive-Storage Question was created by jon.oshima
I'm in the process of cleaning up my FCP files. I've gotten better at managing the files - slimming them down, and keeping track of assets. And, in the past I remember that it was recommended that I compress (zip) FCP Library Files before storing them. Is that true? Also, do you have any experience with iDrive - an online off-site backup service?

I cannot answer any of your precise questions but one thing that can really bloat your drives are render files which are up to 10x larger than normal video. If your Mac is under 10 years old you probably don't need them and they should be deleted.

Thanks Ian. I'm starting to think that the idea of zipping Libraries before uploading to onlline storage was an issue in the past.

I have never used online storage for my Libraries.
I find that a good cheap large HDD is more convenient and gives much faster access.
