Has anybody heard from Andreas Kiel?
His site has been down for some time and I have seen on another forum someone complaining about having paid for a license and not hearing anything. He hasn't commented on here for several months. I'm sure many will agree that he is a key member and that (x-title for me) a number of his little apps are vital for our work. I have to admit I'm concerned. I hope he's OK. |

If you search here you'll find several posts mentioning this topic, going back to around April or May of this year. Andreas seemed to have dropped off the map late last year. His website was up until around Feb./Mar. this year (hence, the unfulfilled orders).
I haven't heard anything about his situation, so I'm guessing he has a severe infirmity or has passed. ![]() |

I think the same question arises concerning Peter Wiggins. The last post I saw from him was last year some time and his last tweet was in Nov 2022. This site's copyright tagline is still 2022. And questions regarding some issues with this forum have also gone unanswered.
Does anybody know differently? |

These small developers who have such important offerings should have a backup plan if life waylays them. It does seem the FCP community is very dependent on a few individuals. It's sad to see an important website or important products lie fallow.

Thanks for posting that. I couldn't agree more. It's a good lesson for the rest of us. We need to plan for various contingencies. It's sad to see such important offerings go to waste, especially considering the fairly esoteric tech underlying many of them. It's a loss to the memory of anyone who passes, and a loss to the larger community. Much of Andreas's knowledge and code for the mysterious aspects of XML and FCP are not something that anyone can just pick up a book and learn. It would have been a good legacy if those close to anyone who passes to at least release the various codebases. That way people can "live on" in the code... |

Peter is hard to reach, that is what I can share, indeed. The board has it flaws, but let's enjoy one of the largest FCP-communities in the web.- |

I really hope Andreas is OK. He's very important to all of us.
Unfortunately this website is not as active as it used to be, I think it has to be with Apple not caring about FCPX and being in cruise/maintenance mode. |

Thanks Fox for the kind words! Not active @ASC for quiet a while, read-only-mode, don't have the power anymore for my "red arrows" … My 'all day company' Mr Parkinson + GUIs is no good combination.... ![]() |

My understanding is that sadly Andreas has some kind of health issues, and is no longer developing software, and has basically completely dropped off the radar. I don't know anyone that's had any direct contact with him recently. I don't know him personally, and I've never met him in person - but the few online exchanges I've had with him over the years have been insanely helpful, so it's incredibly sad he's no longer active in the FCP Community.
My understanding is that Peter is still around, and I know several people and companies have chatted to him about buying the fcp.co site in recent months. I believe he's still updating his plugins. I think he just got really busy with work and life, and fcp.co became less of a priority. I haven't talked to him personally/directly, but he's definitely still around - just busy with other things. I'm not sure what his intentions are for fcp.co. |
