Export audio as separate roles is not offering all role options - how to fix? was created by Slaughter
As attached.
I have many interview audio sources here, and I want to treat them all separately. FCPX is only showing a couple of available roles at export, when there are many more than this that I have assigned.
Each interview subject has their own video and audio grouping in my timeline. In the main timeline, FCPX does not allow a delineation of more than just "dialogue" when you try to assign a role to audio in a grouped clip, but if you go into each group, the audio is correctly, individually assigned. So it looks like the roles function does not work properly if you are using grouped clips.
Is there a fix for this?

Arrrrgghhh
Even when I ungroup all components, so that I *can* see the comprehensive list of unique roles at export, FCPX will NOT export each dialogue subrole as a separate file. So what's the point of being able to designate dialogue subroles?

Ok, gratifyingly it seems I'm not the only one who was initially baffled by the fact that you can choose subroles @export, only to find that you still don't get separate subrole files.
Here's how to navigate the process:

It's a bummer that FCPX won't let you make subrole assignments to grouped audio / video clips - so, too bad if you're working with 14 interview files which are 90 mins long each and you've created grouped edit sections for each interview to bring into your final feature timeline.
Hopefully this info comes in handy for others, anyway...
