I completed a 22 minute video using FCP-X on my iMac. I rendered two titles in red, however, when burned to a DVD directly from the timeline the red titles defaulted to white. The titles did remain in red on the timeline. How can I correct this problem? Thanks.

I see that there have been over 40 views of this post and no one has responded, therefor, I might have to accept this problem as being one that no professional editor can answer.

This color change happens numerous times and I feel that there must be an answer.

You might want to consider providing more information when you ask for help. Most things don't involve simply changing one setting; it's hard to even guess what's happening without enough information.

That said, would you let us know the timeline/Project configuration, FCP version, macOS version, actual title used, specific value for "red" used (if not RGB 255,0,0), and whether the disc was burned from FCP or saved to a disk image file. What did you use to view the video from the disc or disk image files? Thanks.

You could try creating a new Project and only insert a title like the ones that "glitched out" in your video project, then export that to disk or burn it directly and check it.

You might consider exporting your Project to XML and posting it here, with a note about where the problematic title is located in the timeline. No media would be needed. If the title is from a built-in Title in FCP, we should be able to check it out (and export the timeline/Project to DVD to test it).

The color space and gamma are different when going to DVD (for HD and other projects). Reds can become more orangey or desaturated, but turning white is unexpected.

Addendum:
I took a one-minute range from a project I"m currently editing, added a built-in Title, only changing the color to 255,0,0, then exported it as a DVD to disk/file. It played back as expected with DVD Player. Export settings were all defaults. My timeline/Project is ProRes 422 at 23.976 fps, 1280 x 720, stereo 48 kHz, using FCP 10.6.5 and macOS 12.6.8 on a 2019 Intel Mac Pro.

Thank you for your valuable input. I do agree that I should have provided more input and will do so in the future.

I was able to overcome this problem by doing a so called work-around. I made a 'Master Composite' from the timeline that retained the red color and then burned a DVD from that composite. It did retain the red on the DVD.

Thanks again.
