I know once you click on the library you can use that search bar to search for all files and projects.
But I was wondering if there was a way to search the library for the event names so if I have an event with the word "elliptical" in it I can search and final cut will who me the 3 events I have with the word elliptical in the event title...Is this possible? It seems simple and useful enough.

Check out Final Cut Library Manager. $$$ well spent.

Thanks, this seem very robust. Almost too much for what I need.
I just want to search one library.
Essentially I want to type a word in the search bar, like we already have in final cut.
But instead of searching file names and project names that are in the library; it searches the event names that are in the library.

One way to achieve what you'd like (within FCP) would be to use keywords or other metadata to tag your media rather than using so many Events. Searching would then work quite well. Or, you could create smart collections for each search (and put those into a folder to group them). FCP is probably meant to use smart collections rather than numerous Events...

The simple answer is FCP as currently designed does not automatically search event names as text. Likely the reason is events are not intended for use as a fine-grained organizational method. They are not like file folders where a file cabinet may contain 100 folders. Indeed you don't even need multiple events to have a well-organized library. That is what keywords and smart collections are for. In general use just a few events.
Here are some suggestions about media organization in FCP:
