Re audio/video sync. One thing I don't understand or am unsure how to resolve...

I have a pretty basic recording going on for a church service I produce a YouTube video for...

My sources are a Zoom recording and audio off the mixer.

I've only once been shown how to synchronize that stuff, but it was confusing. I am planning to try again with some help I've found. (More suggestions would be great.)

Here's one question:

We start the video and mixer recordings at different times, sometimes by 10s of minutes.

Is it better to cut down those sources and then try the sync? Or can I compensate somehow?

As long as the sample rate of all audio from all sources is the same, you should be able to sync by audio just fine.

Hmmm... I don't actually know how to check that and so don't know if the sync rate is the same. How can I check?

Go to the Browser, select the clip, look in the Info section of the Inspector, at the top.

The kHz.

Yes, video is captured in Frames Per Second, audio is captured in Samples Per Second (kHz).  But these two don't act the same.  To sync video clips, the audio or each clip must have the same sample rate.  48kHz is the standard sample rate for video/broadcast work.

I had thought I was going to do it this week! Not so! I'll try it when my turn comes up to create this video.
