I just don't know how serious they are about FCPX anymore. They released a series of videos for the Holidays on YouTube. One showcases editing on the iMac with Premiere, one showcases coloring in Photoshop on an iMac, and at least the one showcasing creating music was using Logic Pro X.

1 out of 3 ain't bad, but that hurts. It almost feels like a slap in the face. Never felt like losing hope in FCPX until now. Thanks Apple. Rant over. Sorry.

Meh. They know the FCPX users have to buy Apple products. Not every editor is a Final Cut user, though, and they have a choice of PC or Mac. This ad is to remind them they do have a choice.

And it looks like an old iMac.

Do you guys seriously think that in a giant company like Apple, the marketing and advertising departments run everything they do by the software peeps?

What's most interesting to me is that the comments are disabled. They don't want to hear any feedback about it. Usually disabling comments is suicide for a Youtube channel.

Absofrekinglutly. Nothing goes through that doesn’t get touching by a lot of hands. Every software group like pro apps has their own marketing department, and they knows what’s happening in marketing across the board. I’m sure there was a lot of discussion about this, and I think the committees involved made poor choices.

Comments are disabled on all videos on the Apple Channel, even their ah gee Christmas feelgood videos.

Apple's business is selling hardware.

Mrs Karaan could have used a Windows machine … she didn't = mission accomplished.
Now, having a Mac, she has the option to test-drive for 30d FinalCut … ;)

plus, that specific Xmas ad is some really crazy mix of miniatures and CGI - demands probably features simply not avail in FCPX? Why not? Always the tools which fits your needs best.-

… 2.5mio sold seats … aaaaand counting.

True. The message could simply be "You don't have to give up all the things you're comfortable with if you move to Mac."

Macs are certainly much bigger ticket items than software...

Actually it looks like Apple has pulled the video off of YouTube. It's no longer on the Apple page and the link in the OP is now unavailable.

The ad agency who did this, is probably being fussed at right now.

I think every single example lists Adobe Creative Cloud. None list FCPX or Motion.

They also list Modo and not Blender. I don't think much of that can be done with Motion.
