Compound clip is Red and won't draw waveforms....help?

I am trying to figure out how and why my compound clips won't draw the waveforms and the entire clip is red. I have a youtube show I edit and when I am finished I make the entire show a compound clip so I can mix the roles using audio lanes... That way I can bring all the sfx, music, VO, or production sounds up and down as a whole or keyframe each "lane". Does anybody have a solve for this? I have thrown away my pref holding down alt+command and clicking on fcpx to load it. I have thrown out all the peak files, I have waited and not touched fcpx while it re-draws all the waveforms.

I have tested a small sequence and it works..and redraws waveforms. I think my sequences are to complicated...or maybe long for fcpx...? Has anybody run into this and have a fix for it?

Screen shot would help. But red usually means something went offline, a clip, an effect, a transition, maybe a title. Double-click the compound to open it into its own timeline, and see if any single elements are also red (offline/missing).

Nothing is offline..for sure. Do you know of a way to upload stills? I think you have to have a link.

Make them 72dpi and no wider than 1200 pixels.

Thank you for the screenshots. This is puzzling me as I cannot reproduce the issue, even with a similar complex timeline.

I assume you have already trashed your prefs and trashed/rebuilt the audio cache files.

Could you try to create the compound clip with only the clips on the primary storyline and everything beneath? I am trying to narrow down the possible causes.

Thanks so much for looking into it for me. I did what you said and was able to find two offline clips..i didn't see in the timeline. IT IS FIXED!!!! This has bugged me through a few deliveries..mystery solved...fcpx works correctly!

Hey Eric,

That's exactly what I suspected. The red color usually indicates offline audio in a clip or CC. But I could not see any offline media in your timeline screenshot, that's why we needed to narrow down the issue.
