For several days I have been unsuccessfully trying to reach the publisher at www.arcticwhiteness.com/

Are they still in business?

I have no problems reaching their website: www.arcticwhiteness.com/finalcutlibrarymanager/

Nor their contact page: www.arcticwhiteness.com/contact/

If you have tried to contact them but you got no reply, maybe you can try their FB page: www.facebook.com/pages/Arctic-Whiteness/275751519124930

Thanks, there is apparently a network problem. Using nslookup to arcticwhiteness.com returns 213.186.33.19, but ping fails to that address if using Comcast ISP from my location (TN, USA). Tried Google Public DNS, also Mac and Windows clients, no difference. I suggested on their Facebook page they investigate this.

FWIW I can never access their website from my network at work (university) either. As soon as I am outside that network I can access it. Never figured out why.

There's definitely a network issue. Today I could connect from various Mac and Windows PCs using different ISPs across in a geographic region. However one PC behind Norton ConnectSafe (formerly Norton DNS) could not connect. It was not a blocked site but Norton DNS itself could not reach arcticwhiteness.com.

This evening Comcast escalation support reproduced the problem and are now investigating. It is likely not isolated to Comcast but may be at the French ISP hosting the site, or associated DNS servers.

Your university probably has a firewall in place that is blocking access. I can't get to it from my office. I just downloaded the update to my personal iPhone and emailed it to myself. Problem solved!

Actually I just tried accessing their site again and it worked. Maybe try clearing cookies and caches on your browser.

Here are a few diagnostic steps to try (Note, I'm no network expert)

From terminal or command-line: nslookup arcticwhiteness.com
Ping the returned IP, e.g, ping 213.186.33.19

Try Google Public DNS: developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using#setup

Try a DNS diagnostic tool such as intoDNS.com or solveDNS.com. Take the returned information and work with your local network admins or ISP to isolate the problem.

Thanks for the tips. I get a Request timeout on the ping. I don't need to access the site badly enough to deal with the molasses-like bureaucracy that is the IT department ;)

Just a final comment about the tool itself: this is an incredible product. Even given the recent improvements in FCP X, LibraryManager greatly streamlines managing libraries and safely deleting unneeded proxy/render/flow files.

It is so good and so easy to use, I can't believe Apple hasn't just bought the company and rolled these features into FCP X.

Hi everyone,

We are, of course, still in business :)

This network issue is very frustrating. It's really not my area of expertise and I'm struggling to find out what the cause is. I contacted our service provider but I've still not heard back from them.

However, reading through this thread it seems like it might have sorted itself out? I hope so.

Thank you all for your comments of the software, your support is much appreciated. I can't see Apple buying it any time soon though :)

Thank you for bring this to Comcast's attention. I'd tried to find a way to contact them from here but it was impossible. If you hear back from them as to the cause of the issue then please let me know. I'd also like to know if it's really be resolved.

Hi tarmes FWIW I have never been able to reach the Arctic Whiteness website from within my university network. Otherz above have indicated this is probably a firewall issue and it may well be, but your website is the ONLY one that I have problems with. I appear to be completely unrestricted otherwise (including Facebook and a vast array of websites running the gamut of content types. I haven't tried loading any porn sites tho :P )

It seems odd to me that yours is the only site I have ever been unable to access.

Hi all,

It's a real problem for us. We still do not arrive to find a solution, mainly because we are not able to reproduce this problem of inaccessibility.

Those who have the problem, could you tell us if you access these other sites:
1 - timothyarmes.com
2 - www.lesyeuxouverts.com

They are hosted and designed differently. This will allow us perhaps to isolate the source of the problem.

Thank you for your help!
And thank you for your feedback!

Hi all!

To answer the original question: yes! Final Cut Library Manager is available, and more alive than ever! Of course, we work on the next update we hope to release before the end of the year. It will adopt the flat design of Yosemite (even if the current version already works perfectly in Yosemite!). We are also working on new features.

But in the meantime, the good news of the day is that today only (October 31, 2014), buy Final Cut Library Manager for only € 7.50 (approx. $ 7.85) instead of € 9.95! Please share it! www.arcticwhiteness.com/finalcutlibrarymanager/

;)
