Maybe I'm outing me here as the biggest noob ever - but:
… all Titles/Effects/plugins I know-of are displaying the PROJECTS timecode; what I would need for my sports-videos is a display of the recording-time (plus some off-set… ). In result, I would like to have a 'box', which allows me without manual computation "this happened in minute 15 of the game, this happened in minute 55, this …"
… just to mention: my sources are AVCHD - no 'real' professional time-coded material.....
by all means - I can not find such a feature.
Is it just me, or is there really no API offering that ?

No. Recent versions of Final Cut don't send any source timecode information to the plugin system - which means that plugins can't use timecode in effects, titles, transitions or generators.
The best plugin writers can do is to provide generators and effects that allow editors to manually enter the timecode offset they want to start with.
Given that the next version of Final Cut is likely to have better subtitling features, a collateral benefit might be that timecode implementation will improve.

Hi Alex,
thanks for chiming in - and, educated guess, you're the best source I can imagine givin' me this info!
… I'm not familiar with the 'innards' of video-streams, but based upon, how divinely FCPX handles all sorts of meta-tags, it is astonishing, or surprising, that this … should I say simple? … feature is missing.
In many 'docus' I'm watching, it is an elementary and iterate element to show the 'actual' time… and in my reports, I'm condensing 70min with many takes - boring process to read-out manually/do the math/type the title…
Fingers-crossed, end of October, my problems get solved
