Problems uploading my project to YouTube!?

More

I used the two methods on FCPX. Share under file/YouTube and the other one with the email icon on it and both times this came up? I was successful uploading a 2 min project yesterday. This project I have won't load and its only 8.5 min.

I even restarted my computer and still no luck?

Please help,

Thank you.

Use Compressor. Export Master file and choose preset in Compressor and let it do the job. Then upload the file via Safari.

Yeah, "buggy" is an understatement. I'm new to FCPX, and the world of editing in general. I'll try to understand the article BenB posted above, but it seems pretty complicated?! Ugh, Anything else out there that takes you through an easy step by step process?
I just wanna put my 8.5min project on YouTube? :(

*Would it be easier to download the video from FCPX to the hard drive on my '13 Imac, and then upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo?

Really appreciate any help here.

Thank you guys!

Hey Guys,
Would this be a good accurate tutorial on how to use Compressor? He mentions at the end you have to buy it online or at the apple store for 50.00? No big deal, but is this included on FCPX? I have the latest version of Imac and FCPX '13.

Would love to know your opinion..

Thank you!

Compressor isn't included with FCP X, no. It is $50 in the app store. It's worth it though if you ever need more control over your delivery codecs.

Compressor is so easy to use. Just drag the master file to right location, select preset for Youtube or Vimeo and drag it to the the right location and click submit. Compressor will output a file that is intended for the web

Well, purchased compressor and must of watched/read 10 different tutorials on how do convert your FCPX project to YouTube/Vimeo.
Every time I went through all the steps, it would get to about 20% into it the compressing phase and then "fail" ?!?

Has anyone else had these problems with compressor?

There seems to be something with your master file. It is Pro Res 422 ?

Here's a screenshot of what my project is in. I was told I should compress this to 720 when sharing this on youtube/Viemo. So, when I'm in compressor I'm using 720 format, is that the problem?
Also, in my project I have some clips I pulled off Youtube (each clip being 15sec in length using a Youtube converter, which worked perfectly). Could that be the reason my my project is not compressing?

This is the master file 1080 nothing wrong here before exporting. You can upload 1080 to Vimeo and Youtube. But check geometry pane in Compressor if something is different there. I have no clue why this does not work

Thank you for all your interest in helping me...

Not sure what geometry pane is? The process on how compressor works seems pretty easy. Every tutorial I've seen is the same. If my project is 1080 should I be using the same format in compressor or can I use 720? I've been using 720 to compress my project, is that the problem?

If your master file is 1080 use that in Compressor. When you choose preset use HD 1080 p. You can change that to 720 when uploaded.

You'll want to upload the highest quality. YouTube automatically converts your file to smaller sizes like 720, 480, and 360.

Are you exporting the master file first, or are you using the "Send to Compressor" item in the Share menu? Make sure you are exporting the master file, then importing that into Compressor.

I never use send to Compressor. Always make a master File then let Compressor do the job. It has never failed. You are working hard and in the end you will succeed. The reason Vimeo or Youtube convert it to 720 is that many computers have hard time playback 1080. But both accept 1080.

I think this may be the problem. I tried many different ways put the master file in compressor. The stock Youtube way through "Share" does not work. I tried to export it to desktop and that quite/failed on me to about 25% into the compressing process.

Could you please tell me the way you export your master project to then put it into compressor.

Thank you.

*I'll be able to try this tonight, since I'm at work right now...

Please share with me your process of how you make a "master file" of your FCPX project. Maybe there is a link or could you please list in steps how you do this? I have "13 Mac.

Spoke to some FCPX techs in LA today. They think the reason Compressor crashes/quits at the 25% point each time it's compressing my project is because:

* In my 8.5 min movie using GoPro cameras I have used two clips from Youtube (about 15 sec each of the Iron man trailer and a AC/DC music video). They're saying because I converted them into FCPX ans inputted them in my project, its causing compressor to quit/crash in the compressing process?

Could this be the reason that's happening? When I get home, I may delete those two 15 sec segments from my project, and see if compressor compress's my project 100%.

Thoughts?

If you have the original files you downloaded from YouTube, try converting them to ProRes with MPEG Streamclip, reimport into FCP X and re-edit them into your project. Then try to export the master file again.

Ok, I do have the orginal YouTube files. Can I use compressor to make them Pro Res 422? or do I have to use MPEG Streamclip?

You can use Compressor. MPEG Streamclip is just what I use for converting usually. You should get the same result either way.
