The opening shot is very striking, it almost looks like 2 shots combined, the background is all burnt orange yet the car & foreground are are bright over saturated with purple, the entire frame really pops.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were two shots, we never actually see her walk completely into the background. Or it could be that the car & purple road are masked from the burnt orange tint. Also remember this is a massive production costing over a million easy. They've probably got all kinds of lights & gels on that set to get a lot of it done before it even hits the lens.

There isn't a single look for this video either, there are various treatments throughout, some color shifts happen during a single shot. There's another purple scene where she's walking in a brightly lit corridor, the variety here is substantial, there's even black & white footage with a greenish blue tint for a TV effect. So nobody here can give you one quick tutorial on how to produce a million dollar video. What I would suggest is explore some of the threads here that deal with colorizing during post production. There are plenty of free plugins to compete with the paid ones you could choose, but FCPX right out of the box has plenty to work with.

Then begin to familiarize yourself with the palette that is available to you effects-wise inside FCPX, try different looks for different shots to achieve the overall impact you desire. Other than the B&W scene I mentioned, most of the colorizing in this video is super-saturated, lots of color, though they also go for a really crushed blacks look in the leather sequences. Get into the program, vary your looks & colors, experiment, you can always take a step back, no damage done. Have fun with it..

a quick tip the person who edited this made it completely fan-made i do belive the way he made it by highly saturating everything and also by making the colors orange-purple.i did notice the purple and orange in the beginning.i was just hoping you had a tutorial on how to make a look like that or like that.

What I'm getting at is the original footage, that the fan had to begin with, that is from a million dollar shoot. That's the first point. Having not spent time studying this video & comparing it to the original Britney Spears videos to examine exactly what the fan changed & what is already preexistent colorizing in the original, I can't comment on what precisely he's altered. For all I know, he may have changed nothing, just cobbled the piece together. But even if he has adjusted colors, it's the same principles that every colorizing tutorial on FCPX teaches. Though there might be some specific filters & plugins utilized here, there are myriads of those.

If it's the specific opening shot look you're wanting, then I would experiment as suggested, saturate the entire image with the burnt orange color, but mask the car & road for the purple tint. The tricky part is Britney walking, difficult to mask her movement, but not impossible. I'd really have to see that shot in the original Britney video to see if the fan has altered anything. The fact that they cut the shot before she reaches the background makes me suspect it's 2 separate shots.

so are you saying he overlayed each clip to make that type of effect?

Are we still talking about the opening shot? Either way, like I said, without seeing the original Britney video, I have no idea if he changed anything.

But just looking at the opening shot again several times, I think the whole thing is done with lighting, not in post. It's a big fancy shoot, they've got big lamps & gels. Stage left there's a huge lamp with the orange gel, you can see the shadow it casts with the 2 people walking across the frame, before Britney crosses over. The fact that she's all in black is a mask in itself, the orange light doesn't show on her. They've pointed the light onto that wall & it looks like it's about in line with the car's headlights, they might have flagged it so there's no spill on the car area which is bathed in the purple light. The foreground is very dark with only a bit of purple spill over the crest of the concrete. The dark foreground gives us the beautiful silhouette of the first character walking. Like I said, it's an expensive shoot, they planned the scene well & spared no expense.

If you want to fake this color scheme in post you could overlay 2 images but then you need a massive set to drive your car onto green screen, or mask out the background on the car's entry. Too much hassle. It would be much easier to mask the car & keyframe its movement. Put your burnt orange light colorization on the back wall, purple on the car. Or use a black car, but personally I love the look of the purple light on the silver car, this is accentuated during the insert shot.
