In a couple of months I'll be videoing a series of seminars. Mostly it'll be quite straightforward, however the teacher will be demonstrating certain techniques which need to be filmed close up (eg zooming in so his hands fill the screen) - again pretty straightforward.
The tricky thing is that they've requested that the close up stuff (practical demo vs in front of white board lecture) also be viewable by the audience via a projector and screen as there will be 60 plus people attending and they can't all crowd round to see what's happening when he demo's techniques.
So I'm looking for advice on how to make this happen? I will need to be recording audio and video and be sending video to the projector from the same camera.
My "pro" experience is mostly with audio recording and for film I've only used consumer camcorders, so I've no idea if a "record and send" (is the word "tether" appropriate?) feature is available on pro cameras or even on some prosumer level gear?
I'm assuming that all this will be happening down wires because I understand, from what research I've done prior to posting this, that the wireless technology will be out of our budget.
many thanks

Two cameras on the speaker, one on his hands. The one on his hands will be recording, as well as an output (HDMI?) to a projector. Be sure all are recording decent audio. Maybe an audio device on the desk where he's working, or lav on his lapel for good audio of his voice. Multicam edit it all up.

Hi Ben - thanks - yes I'm sure we'll be using at least two other cameras as well as the close up.
Reading between the lines of what you've said it sounds like I can go direct from a camera via HDMI to a projector . . . I'd assumed (being way behind the times) that I'd have to find a camera that could send down firewire to a laptop (while also recording internally or on the laptop) while routing it out from the laptop to the projector. That was getting pretty complicated with too much to go wrong - which of course it normally does!
Any idea how long an HDMI cable can be before I get into trouble? I imagine I'll need a fair length.
The one thing I'm pretty confident I can get right is the audio - I hope!
I'm talking to someone later today at the venue (a university) about what gear they have and what they might be prepared to hire in.
cheers
