The stock footage is great, if that's what you're sharing. Otherwise, please help me understand what you mean.
Thank you

Sorry about that, UGM is being incredibly annoying, as they dont even own the copyright to that song! I just disputed it on Youtube, so you might be able to watch it now.

TrixTrax9000 wrote: Having just watched the video, I'm not quite certain what you mean by Templates. The video seems to be a collection of stock footage clips (I've seen the 3rd one of the green meadow before). The clips are gorgeous & your music effective & somewhat haunting. But what exactly is the Template? Somewhere in the middle there is a little ribbon strip 5 or 6 way vertical split screen, is that what you're referring to? It's only for a few seconds in the middle of the lengthy film, & frankly it's my least favorite part as is diminishes the beauty of the great clips.

Sorry for not being clear. It's not the stock footage, but rather the effects, titles, and transitions like the ones you mentioned. I took a snapshot of part of the sales page to help clear it up. so basically here's what you're getting:

I watched something like 1:40 minutes and saw 2 titles.
I did not see anything that I could not build myself with in a matter of minutes!
The first title was way to near the edge of the screen for my taste and I had the impression that the second title was cut off at the beginning!
I think the gorgeous pictures and editing also detract from what you are trying to sell. Just being honest

I like the opening closing sequences with the dust, though I'm not crazy on the particular fonts, but that I know is adjustable.
My favorite things were actually the gorgeous footage. Any links for that?
thanks

Hi, a lot of the titles are at the end. Some of the titles are simpler, but some of them could by no means be created in a matter of minutes. Our target audience, however either lacks the time or skill in Motion to design them themselves. Also, the whole bunch will be only $20. It's easy to customize the size of the first title, but I kind of like the style. I'll consider adding more time to the beginning of the second template. Would you mind further elaborating why you think the footage detracts from what I'm trying to sell? I used it in an actual video to show it's application, as opposed to just a video showing the templates with the "Type Your Text HERE!" Thanks.

Glad you liked it— it's really easy to customize font size/color/type,etc. Let me know if you would like a review copy. Also, if you view it on Youtube here: I have the links to the footage in the description. Thanks!

- Absence of Quality is the essence of squareness.
Because I had a similar question in this forum and got some very good advice.
I am in the process of making FCP tutorials.
And I jumped into a thread about screen casting and got some very good advice from BenB
I was looking for a way to use some kind of animated template to help me illustrate the nuts and bolts of FCP X.
Here is what I was looking at.
www.rippletraining.com/categories/plugin...final-cut-pro-x.html
Here is the thread
www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...fcpx-and-screencasts
And here is the advice I got
"For tutorials, you don't want to get fancy. You're not showing off your graphics, you're trying to teach a process to people, don't distract them with over blown graphics."
I would twist this advice around the other way and give it to you.
For Motion graphic templates videos you do not want to get to fancy. You are not showing off your stock footage. You are trying to get people to focus on your Motion template.
If I were you I would tweak the titles.
A) I suspect that in a flat screen world it does not really matter any more but switch on your title safe overlay in the canvas and put your titles inside the boxes. I think that you will find that things look nicer any way.
www.hongkiat.com/blog/golden-ratio-in-moden-designs/
C) Think about the beautiful videos clips that you are using as wallpaper for your titles!
I commented on the Superman trailer here
www.fcp.co/forum/2-off-topic/16018-editi...ilers?start=40#24584
For me from 1:56 onwards : is a perfect example of what I like to call my "flies buzzing around yak shit" theory.
Your titles should be the fly and the beautiful pictures should be the yak shit... in the background.
I am so radical that I would even suggest, edit your titles first. Yep, just the titles. Think of the fly. And then put the beautiful shit in the background in a way that supports the fly rather than distracting from the fly. This brings you back to the golden ratio /how titles and video play off each other.
I wish you the best of luck
Paul
ps and yeah where did you get your Stock footage from?

Thanks for the help! I can definitely see how the beautiful stock footage is taking away from the templates, however the video is not just a demo video, but also a marketing tool— a video like the one on www.rippletraining.com/categories/plugin...final-cut-pro-x.html might make sales, but certainly won't bring in any new customers from Youtube. The reason why I like the video, is I'm selling more than just my templates, I'm selling great video editing, I'm selling creativity, and I'm selling "Awesome." My goal is for the videos to be like that of GoPros, in which GoPro's are popularized by videos of people using them, not by someone telling you about the specs of the new GoPro.
I really like the Superman trailer, very well done, I see what you're talking about from 1:56 on. As for the Golden Ratio thing on Hongkiat, I think it's kind of bullshit. The same thing could be done with a "yak shit."
If that video's designed more for marketing purpose, do you think I should have another video on the sales page who's goal is to make sales? How should I go about doing that? Thanks again for the help. Also, if you view the Video on Youtube, the sources are all in the description.

Hehe... I've been in meetings with guys whom you ask the same question 3 times & they just keep talking about other things & never answer the question. It's a particular talent. Connorpro, you may be Executive Producer material, or... in case Template sales don't pan out, there's always room in politics. You know I'm just joking, right buddy?

I've never heard of Videvo, but thanks for turning me onto it, they've got some really good stuff! I also like their licensing options. Here's the sources of all the videos I used: (Copied from the Youtube video)
Also, if you don't mind me asking, what question didn't I answer? Haha

Why do you think it is shit?
What do you propose instead?

There's just nothing scientifical/logical about it. A divine proportion/golden mean? Sounds like something from a Dan Brown Novel. I'm not doubting that the ratio it creates doesn't look good, but basing video editing off of some "cool looking" twirld thing that is supposed to be divine is just silly.

BenB wrote: Actually there is a ton of research showing the Golden Ratio does in fact appeal to human perception more favorably, and across cultures. Simply using the Rule Of Thirds accomplishes this very easily, without doing the math. It is very simple.
Can you point me to the research? This whole idea sets of my BS filter, as they try to prove the number through things like comparing the lengths of fingers and the dimensions of the Pyramid of Giza. Just seems rather "irrational" to me. (Get it, because 1.6180 is irrationa— nevermind...)

BenB wrote: Take a graphic design course. This stuff is not just made up. Do you know the rule of thirds?
Yes, I do quite a bit of photography (I use the d7000 and recently picked up a d800) and am very familiar with the rule of thirds. It's easy to see how the rule of thirds helps design, but not so easy for that spiral overlay.
